Our Annual Coat and Sock Drive is Back!

After a very successful drive in 2019 – and a brief hiatus in 2020 – we are so excited to announce that our Annual Coat and Sock Drive is back!

2021 Coat and Sock Drive Details

When: The entire month of November

Where: Any Guardian Storage location – both in Pennsylvania and Colorado

What: We will be accepting donations of new or gently worn coats and new socks

Who: All donations will be given to local shelters and organizations selected with the help of our partners, One Warm Coat and Knock Knock Give a Sock depending on their current level of need for the items

Additional Information

Coats and socks are some of the most needed, yet least donated items. After receiving overwhelming support from our communities during our food, toy, and school supply drives, we knew we could help fill the gap and get these essential items to the people who need them most. In 2019, we held our first annual coat and sock drive and were absolutely blown away by the generosity of our communities. Thanks to the help of everyone who donated, we were able to donate over 1,000 coats and pairs of socks to multiple local shelters and organizations.

This year, with your support, we are aiming to collect over 2,500 coats and socks to help ensure all of our neighbors in need stay warm this winter.

How You Can Help

Looking to help us reach our goal of providing warmth to those in need this winter? Here are a few ways you can help:

• Donate! Please feel free to stop by any Guardian Storage location during business hours throughout the entire month of November to drop off your donations.
• Share our drive information on social media! Click here to follow us on Facebook and share our posts about the drive, or utilize the social media buttons on the right of your screen to conveniently share this page with friends.
• Spread the word! Click here for our Coat & Sock Drive flyer that you can print, email, and share with friends and other community members!
• Host your own drive! We understand that not everyone will be able to stop by one of our locations to drop off their donations. If you’ll be having friends or family over for Thanksgiving this year, please consider asking them to bring a donation that you can drop off before the end of the month at one of our stores.

Learn About Our Partners

None of this would be possible without our partners, One Warm Coat and Knock Knock Give a Sock. They are vital in helping us connect with the shelters and organizations that are most in need in our communities.

One Warm Coat’s mission is to provide free coats to children and adults in need while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability. Colder weather disproportionately affects the more than 39 million Americans living in poverty, particularly children. Children are unable to regulate their body temperatures the same way adults do. This leaves them more susceptible to developing hypothermia and becoming infected with pneumonia. By donating your gently worn coats, you help keep children and adults safe during the winter.

Knock Knock Give a Sock works to humanize homelessness one sock at a time by turning transactions of sock donations into meaningful interactions where neighbors can get to know one another. They envision a world where individuals of all socio-economic backgrounds share, listen, and ultimately know their neighbors, leading to stronger communities.

We’re so grateful for the work that both of these organizations do and we look forward to long-lasting partnerships with them as we continue to work to support our neighbors in need.
